We were away visiting kids yesterday when I received the exciting news, via the EDP (so still subject to official confirmation), that we’ve been successful in our Parish Partnership bid for funds to create a reed filter-bed at the southern end of the village pond. This will significantly help to improve the water quality of the run-off from Church Road and also help reduce standing water. It also means that our bunch of enthusiastic volunteers are going to be pretty busy this autumn!
Speaking of Aylmerton Pond Project volunteers – I was more than a little envious when, at a recent working party, a couple of them told me that they’d got Siskin regularly visiting their garden feeders. This morning, I’m delighted to report, I had a lovely male Siskin on my feeders in the garden too!
