Male Stonechat, reappears at Felbrigg – or maybe they never left?

Now where have they been hiding? I called in the park on my way back from Sustead Common yesterday afternoon and, there on the fence at the edge of Scarrow Beck, below the dam, were the pair of Stonechat! Last reported on 20th October. Simon had reported them earlier, along with Jack Snipe AND a Hen Harrier – his first for Felbrigg. I still need it 😦 There was a pair of Tufted Duck in amongst the two dozen Gadwall and a single Wigeon, on the lake. On the water meadows the ‘stranger’ group of Mute Swan has increased to three. Back at Spurrell’s Wood, where the newly-dug ‘back-water’ is filling up nicely, I flushed (unintentionally) the Woodcock again.
